Kao razlog navode stravičnu nesreću koja se dogodila prije 10-tak dana tijekom smotre u Duisburgu; 21 poginuli i stotine ozljeđenih ljubitelja elektronske glazbe koji su zbog panike i velike gužve stradali u stampedu koji se dogodio u tunelu stare željezničke stanice.
Mnoge su kritike upućene organizatorima od strane vlasti, grada pa sada i DJ-a kako su u grad od 500.000 stanovnika mogli organizirati ovakav događaj koji je privukao 1,4 miljuna ljudi. U znak poštovanja prema stradalima i njihovim obiteljima Love Parade u Njemačkoj se ukida zauvijek.
Prema informacijama koje su stigle do nas službeni vlasnik licence ne namjerava ukinuti Love Parade u drugim zemljama gdje se redovito održava. Parada najavljena za 2011. u Hrvatskoj znači trebala bi se održati ali će morati ispoštivati visoke sigurnosne standarde. Grad domaćin je Zagreb a termin održavanja početak svibnja 2011.g.
Memorijalna ceremonija u čast poginulim žrtvama Love Paradea održana je 31. srpnja u Duisburgu. Dogodilo se to u gradskoj crkvi Salvator a prijenos je bio na video ekranu nogometnog stadiona i ostalim crkvama u gradu. Guverner ove regije poručio je: "Ostalo je mnogo svjedoka i preživjelih posjetitelja ove tragične nesreće, ali duše svih njih i nas ostat će povrijeđene zauvijek".
Nedavno je započela i opsežna kriminalna istraga u kojoj se pokušava doznati zašto je stampedo rezultirao katastrofalnim posljedicama u tunelu.
